BankSA Crime Stoppers

BankSA Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000Crime Stoppers is a unique concept that began in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1976, designed to empower the public to play a part in making their community a safer place to live in.

As a co-operative partnership between the community, the police, sponsors and the media, the program encourages members of the community to share information with the police about wanted people, unsolved crimes and people they may be aware of that have committed criminal offences, but have not been arrested.

BankSA, together with the South Australia Police (SAPOL) introduced this program into South Australia in July 1996. Since this time, BankSA Crime Stoppers has become a vital community initiative which has helped solve thousands of crimes and recover millions of dollars worth of stolen or unlawfully obtained property.

Calls from the public have led to the arrest of alleged offenders of many of the States highest profile murder, arson, armed robbery, sexual assault, vandalism and drug trafficking offence crimes.
